Review of Kamikaze Girls (2004) by Patricia A — 21 Jul 2007
It's too late to say this but ... I wish I had been born in the Rococo era. So goes the anthem of countless girls in this age. Frilly dresses, long eyelashes, sweet candies and luxurious lovemaking - these are all staples in the life of a Lolita.
In this film, everything starts with Momoko's birth (and the necessary events that preceded it). Her cup may be small, but it is beautiful. In her early life, it was clear that she wanting nothing to do with ugly or abrasive things.
However, as she grows older, an unexpected bond forms with a spirited Yanki, and the friendship that blossoms is nothing short of eternal and honest. It's a very good story, and told in a very compelling way.
Highly recommended. (If you don't watch it, though, I'm sure Momoko would understand, because humans are cowards in the face of happiness).
