Review of Kamikaze Girls (2004) by Phil N — 07 Dec 2009
Coming of age drama about a 17 year old girl Momoko who is obsessed with the rococo period and Lolita fashions of Baby, The Stars Shine Bright. She meets â??yankiâ?? biker chick Ichigo and the two form an unlikely friendship.
Sweet and funny, Kamikaze Girls is Japanese pop culture at its best, full of saturated colours and visual quirks. Good performances (especially Fukada) and a hip soundtrack to boot. Delightful.
