A true crime writer (David Duchovny) has just finished a book on serial killers. Along with his photographer girlfriend (Michelle Forbes) he sets out on a cross country road trip. Along the way he picks up a couple (Brad Pitt, Jullietet Lewis) who turn out to be a bit dangerous themselves.
Some of the film is over-the-top, but I found it to work because the strange scenario is believable given the strong work by the actors involved.
