Review of Kalifornia (1993) by M D — 13 Jul 2009
This film came about in the midst of directing Janet Jackson music videos and represents Senaâ??s debut film. It would be seven years before he came back to the big screen with a Gone In Sixty Seconds remake and Swordfish, fortunately he left on a better note.
A writer and photographer couple plans a cross country excursion visiting famous serial killing sights with destination California and leave a wanted ad requesting companions to pay for gas. Insane killer Brad Pitt and his child-like wife Juliette Lewis join the couple providing an ascending degree of tension and complications.
Playing against type complete with chipped tooth, Pitt delivers one of his most overlooked performances competently matched by Lewisâ??s dimwitted character. This neo-noir serial killer thriller is quite entertaining.
