Review of Kai Po Che! (2013) by Edmund C — 15 Aug 2014

5 stars for making my tears well up at the ending... and 4.5 stars for the rest of the film :).

I like the last 2 movies I watched. They featured actual stark realities from their countries of origin. Well-made, universal themes here, but the scenes struck me in the light of my 2013 now... that everyone is different... eg. I'm not in school anymore.. I don't need to match up to the general standard.. Ishaan might have looked an asshole, but when he was in the zone, his passion drove him. Hence, I am not flawed and don't need to hit myself for it. I asked myself during the movie - how am I supposed to get along with people when i'm not even same as any one person next to me.. Do I learn from experience, as with family members? Then I got the answer : They fought because they were different.. but they were chums and got along also because they were different! Kai Po Che! Fav film this year!
