Review of Kai Doh Maru (2001) by Chris C — 09 Aug 2010
A stunning, powerful and concise anime. The washed out colours are a fresh take on the genre, and reminiscent of the artwork of the period portrayed in the film. The story is complex, and told in a concise manner, which leave the viewer a large amount of work so as to understand the character relationships - highly rewarding! Themes include love, family, honour, and growing up.
Highly recommended (although the English dub is not!).
