Review of Kagemusha (1980) by Toby A — 10 Apr 2008
I have to admit, this is my favorite Kurosawa. The color makes it feel more real, more modern. This is a true tale of the feudal times, down to the sniper's plot, the useless missionaries, and the pomp and flag battle scenes.
It ends like an expressionist pool of dream-filled color. The Useless thief and impostor learns to give all honor for his clan.
