Review of Kagemusha (1980) by Steven B — 01 Feb 2010
Sumptuous. A moving painting. Kurosawa still manages, at the dawn of the coked-up, hyperkinetic, wunderkind-occupied 80's, to eke tension out of prolonged wide shots. (Again, Criterion's Blu-ray transfer is a triumph of preservation.
Happy tears dapple my pillow.).
