Review of Kaboom (2010) by Ben D — 03 Apr 2011
You have to know going into this that Gregg Araki does not take himself very seriously (the RA is a hippie nicknamed "the messiah" who is actually an undercover spy). Kaboom is an homage to a quizzically existentialist post modern youth culture that doesn't understand itself, no doubt because as it turns out society is run by new order cults of witches and alcoholics with a nuclear conspiracy to blow up the world.
More heady than campy, but all in good fun. Great looking cast (Hello Thor!).
