Review of Kabluey (2007) by Matthew B — 19 Feb 2010
I didn't authorize anyone to make a movie about my life story...
><.
The funniest part of the movie is between 20 minutes & 35 minutes in, with Jeffrey Dean Morgan coming out of nowhere, and his conversation between Conchata Ferrell and himself and Scott Prendergast's's's's characters xD... Just when you think it's over, BAM.
The cooliestetstestest part was clearly the credit sequence, because fudge-damn that just kept getting better and better... Very much similar to the penis-sequence at the end of "Superbad", but without the phallisii..
Otherwise, between those 2 awesome things, the movie falls a little short & flat when it comes to substance, due mainly to it coming in at only around 1 hour & 15-20 minutes in length... If it had another 20 or so to give it a better ending, I'd probably of rated it a little higher - as both the acting & writing were pretty good considering, and the camera work was none-too-shabby itself... ...especially during most of the scenes with Scott Prendergast's character in the 'Kabluey' costume...
I liked the movie, but it wasn't great : /. Lisa Kudrow did a good job of looking heart-broken at the end, and showing a little emotion throughout; Scott Prendergast did an amazing job at being a somewhat of a slacker that just doesn't know how to be in the real world and how to act really in such a world, and was a pretty damn good performance in this movie. Conchata Ferrell was just damn funny throughout the film the entire time... ...Never stopped being funny, that one.
Anywho, 3 Stars; it just needed more to it to properly end the movie and to fill it out a bit.
