Review of K-PAX (2001) by Tuhin M — 21 Feb 2012

Movies come & go.. many are forgotten down the line.. but only a few manage to really strike a chord with the viewers and move them in a way that it stays with them forever.. quite frankly, this is one of those movies that will be remembered by many for ages to come! Totally engrossing and keeps you guessing right till the very end.

. even after the credits roll! A brilliant & convincing performance by Kevin Spacey (could'nt expect any less from him) who plays "Prot".. someone who believes that he's not of this earth, but a visitor from a planet known as "K-PAX".

. Jeff Bridges is marvellous too.. playing a psychiatrist "Dr. Powell" who is searching for answers.. trying to help a person he believes has suffered a severe trauma in the past leading him to lose touch with reality.

. & as a result, has been living a lie! This movie proves that you dont need CGI creatures running around, massive explosions, special effects & adrenaline pumping action to create an excellent movie.

. this is an example of intelligent film-making which is simple yet entertaining.. gives the viewers something to work with.. without revealing the truth completely & leaving the end open for interpretation! This is most definitely one of my favourite movies of all time.

. just sheer brilliance! so now, those who are expecting a "no brainer" popcorn flick.. I suggest you stay away.. and those who really appreciate intelligent movies that keep you thinking long after the credits.

. please watch it as soon as possible.. you would'nt wanna miss this hidden gem of a movie! Direction, cinematography, acting, soundtrack.. everything is an A+ in my book! & yeah.. good luck figuring out whether Prot is really who he claims to be or is he just mentally deranged.
