Review of K-19: The Widowmaker (2002) by Kevin H — 31 Aug 2007
Another film I missed on its release and then completely forgot about.
The film is based on a real incident occuring onboard a Russian nuclear summarine in 1961, a cooling pipe on the coolling system in the reactor core fails. A team is organised to go into the exposed core to repair it, but not with the correct protective equipment resulting the deaths of some of the crew.
The two lead characters K-19's captain (Harrison Ford) and his first officer (Liam Neeson) have an obvious tension between them which gathers pace as the film progresses, to the point of near mutiny.
Overall not a bad film at all, my only real gripe is the dodgy Russian accents which could have been better.
