Strip away the bad Russian accents along with a few others flaws and take a step back, K-19: The Widowmaker is a thrilling and emotionally powerful film. Ok its not the best film of its genre nor will it ever win a load of Oscars, but when watching this film I was truly gripped to its story and the characters within it.

Based on true events K-19 sees Harrison Ford captain a nuclear submarine with Liam Neeson, which is given the task of test firing nuclear weapons out in the atlantic. However because of the submarine being built from faulty parts and equipment the ship's nuclear reactor overheats, causing several of the ship's men to go into the reactor; receiving dangerously high amounts of radiation, in an attempt to try and fix the problem.

All of which died weeks after. K-19; directed by Kathryn Bigelow, is a powerful film which shows how a group of men reacted when a nuclear disaster struck, they did everything in their power to save each other.
