Review of K-19: The Widowmaker (2002) by Daniel I — 09 Oct 2011
An excellent film to add to Katheryn Bigelow's outstanding canon of work. The Russian accents are passable and the fact that the crew was allowed to film in the Russian ministry of war is proof that times really have changed since the old days of the KGB.
The mood is tense and unpredictable with some disturbing scenes as some submarine sailors try and mend a nuclear reactor which is leaking radioactive waste whilst all they have to wear to protect them are chemical suits not the anti radiation suits that they so badly needed.
