Review of Justice League: The New Frontier (2008) by Tom M — 04 Mar 2008
Strong adaptation of a very well written book. Unfortunately hurt by it's short running time to the detriment of some very cool characters, it's cool, because the larger audience for this film will have no idea who those characters are.
However the pace is a little to brisk and, as such, there is a loss of atmosphere. The "cheesy" silver age attitudes of the characters is completely in tact even though they exist in a more real world environment, complete with the consequences of their violent actions.
Doubtless there will be fans of the books that will find some of their favorite moments missing or altered to a great degree, but I feel that the tone and feel of the book are in tact here. Recommend the Blu-Ray or HD-DVD versions if you can get them; hi-def video makes a huge difference, even with animation.
