I normally only review movies that are out in theatres but I will make an exception for this as it went straight to DVD.

Now keep in mind this may be biased. Most people reading my reviews know I'm a rabid comic book fan. But even from a non-biased, writing standpoint, "Justice League: The New Frontier" is a fantastic animated movie. Set against McCarthy-era USA, Superheroes are slowly being outlawed and fading into history. Superman and Wonderwoman have signed deals with the government, The Flash is on the run (no pun intended) from the police, and Batman... is as dark and mysterious as ever. Meanwhile a martian (soon to become Martian Manhunter) has come to earth and is trying to fit in, and a former fighter pilot named Hal Jordan is training to fly to Mars when he is offered a green ring from a dying Green Lantern, a protector of the universe (that's a long story on its own.).

Are you confused yet? You see I thought I would be too, but somehow the writers manage all these plots to an incredibly satisfying and epic finish where the various heroes mentioned come together some sort of monstrous alien that emerges from the sea. All in a mere 79 minutes.

This one won't be for everyone, but if you were a fan of the Batman animated series from the 90's or like comics at all, it's definitely worth checking out. You won't find a live-action, studio-made superhero film that can give this one a run for its money.
