Review of Justice League: The New Frontier (2008) by Jimmy W — 13 May 2009
Cool movie, especially like the 1950's theme and Batman portrayal, but there are some things about the DC universe that need to go before its movies can be taken seriously.
6) Green Lanterns Lantern - just go with the rings as a source of power, its already a far reaching concept, leave the magical lanterns out of it.
5) The name JLA - There's no way that if a league of superheros existed they would unite with the US. Secondly the brilliant minds on the team such as Batman, Martian Manhunter, and Wonder Woman would avoid calling themselves after the term justice as they would see a moral dilemma in considering everything they do as justified.
4) Superman's Dog Krypto - C'mon, this is stupid.
3) Wonder Woman's Invisible Plane - its a close competition as to whether or not this is dumber than Krypto the Superdog.
2) Sub-versions of Heroes - Kid Flash, Super Boy, Steel, Bat Girl etc... c'mon, like most of the other things on this list these were fabricated to sell comics to a new younger market in the 1960's, its time to ditch them if you want to be considered seriously.
1) Robin or any other attempt at a sidekick for Batman - As a huge Batman fan I adamantly hate any attempt to give the character a sidekick. It's enough that he works on the JLA, while his relationship with Superman is a great dynamic, he needs no sidekick as Superman is his only legitimate partner. Making him a personable father figure ruins so much about the mythos of the character that it can only be justified by the best of story tellers, but ought to avoid the ridiculous costume Robin dons.
