Review of Justice League: The New Frontier (2008) by Todd H — 29 Feb 2008
Uneven superhero entry, containing some great visuals and a neat plot that runs during the Cold War, but the focus is on Green Lantern, Flash, and Martian Manhunter, which is OK, but Superman and Batman get shortchanged with the DVD's short runtime.
Plus, the third act seems to pop up from nowhere, after a meticulously paced buildup, and its calls to action by the superhero leaders simply aren't very motivational. The Superman graphic novel "Red Son" is a much better commentary on Cold War politics and intrigue, but this is still intermittently entertaining.
