Review of Justice League: Doom (2012) by Luke P — 08 Mar 2012
Out of all of the animated superhero movies I have seen thus far (which, admittedly, is a tally that needs to increase), this is my favorite. So the Batcomputer gets hacked, and his contingency plans on every single member of the JLA falls into the wrong hands.
I'm only casually familiar with all of these heroes, minus Batman, who I am a big fan of; I've read a number of his graphic novels and seen all of the animated series, and I would equate the quality of this movie to one of the better episodes of his series.
For me, if this movie accomplishes anything, it makes me itch to go and watch The Justice League and The Justice League Unlimited animated series, which I have heard nothing but the highest forms of praise about.
There's compelling stories taking place, some great voice work (really, when ISN'T Nathan Fillion's talents welcome?), and just all-around thoughtful, conscientious character progression. It also moves at a really good clip, because every character is as engaging as the next one.
If you are reading this and you know me, you know that I am seldom the one to complain about a movie being too short, but this could have been double in length and I would have still wanted more, because it really is that engaging.
This is for you if you like these characters, and I am sure I will be thanking this movie later, because it's the movie that will have gotten me to watch the animated series.
