Review of Justice League: Doom (2012) by Ronnie L — 11 Mar 2012
Let's not fool ourselves, Justice League: Doom is nothing more than a glorified episode of Challenge of the Superfriends - and not just for the obvious parallels. The fact that the villains can so easily take out these super friends but Batman and his gang can just as easily make a stirring comeback, takes away any depth the story could have possibly conjured. I can only suppose the creators of this flick did so with tongue in cheek and adult eyes looking backward to younger days spent. Either that or they really don't know how to tell a story anymore.
I've come to expect exceptional production values from DC Animated Films, and this does not disappoint. From the casting and voice direction to score and animation, this is top notch work. But I've also come to expect a story worth telling, more importantly - worth watching.
Oh, and BTW, it would take weeks for a rocket to reach the sun from Earth. That's a small point and could have been forgiven if only the rest of this walk down Memory Lane wasn't also so obvious and contrived.
