Review of Justice League (2017) by Brian M — 19 Dec 2017
Justice League, the movie DC fans have been waiting for.
Lets start with the cast: Ben Affleck IS Bruce Wayne. Ezra Miller is charming, sensitive and boyish. Ray Fisher is the heart of the team. Gal Gadot is the beautiful and strong woman. Jason Momoa is the Lad-ish savior of the seas. Henry Cavill is a shining beacon of hope. All these characters interact really well and seeing these characters on screen was the main reason we were all here, and they do well. I found myself connecting to the actors and the characters that they were portraying.
The Storyline was very watered down, but very easy to follow (even for non DC fans) The story was enough for the justice league to come together, which is the reason why we were there.
The action scenes were great, everything was visible, and no CGI issues in my opinion.
The direction of the film felt rushed, but there was enough for us to grasp and hope for in the future. I didn't feel that it had 2 Directors work in the film. I'm hoping that an ultimate edition or directors cut is released to show us all what was left out of the final product. (alot of the trailer footage was left out of the theater release).
Out of 10, I rate this an 8.
2 things that majorly brought the film down for me:
1. THE CGI MUSTACHE REMOVAL - This RUINED the superman scenes when it was visible. As a masssive superman fan, I was able to bear with it. But I imagine other people would be majorly put off by how ridiculous it looks.
2. FILMS RUN TIME - This watered down the film toooo much. Warner Brothers mandating the runtime to UNDER 2 HOURS was a masssssive mistake. I'm very much hoping for a re-release with all the Zack Snyder footage.
All in all, a great film for fans of the DC Universe. Also a great popcorn flick. But it could've and should've been TRULY EPIC.
8/10.
