Review of Justice League (2017) by Gary C — 19 Dec 2017
This film suffered primarily from a lack of established back story for each JL member. They tried to stuff a few scenes for Flash, Aqua Man and Cyborg to delve into their character and build their motivations but it was too little too late. This was probably where the film failed most. After that you could enjoy the rest of the movie, but because these characters werent built up, they had no audience investment and thus the consequences for them were hard to swallow.
The villian was a bit of a throw away but was still decent enough that you noticed. Again, another DCEU film was drenched in glossy CGI which really dilutes the immersion of the viewer in spite of this, the action sequences were a lot better, sharper and less drawn out.
Overall this film is ok, Its scope is maybe a little too big to engage the audience to the characters in an intimate sense, beyond their established characters in other mediums but with the exception of Wonder Woman it the best DCEU film to date.
