Review of Justice League (2017) by Bryan T — 10 Dec 2017

If I could only use one word to describe this movie, it would be "good". Just good. Not great, not anything special, but not horrible or terribly flawed like Suicide Squad and Batman V Superman.

That's not to say there are no flaws, as there certainly is, but none of them that I felt turned the movie to bad territory. The main cast is all pretty good. Ben Affleck did a great job as Batman again, Gal Gadot was just as good as Wonder Woman as she was in her own movie, Ezra Miller was okay.

He had a few bad moments, a few times that he felt forced to do some comedy, but overall fine. Ray Fisher as Cyborg was also fine (I'm not too familiar with Cyborg in the comics, so I don't know if this was accurate or not).

Jason Momoa as Aquaman was easily the best part of the movie, and I can't wait for his solo movie. The CGI was fine all around, but there was some moments of bad CGI, and it was very noticeable when it was bad.

Speaking of bad CGI, Steppenwolf was an awful villain. Little motivation behind "let's conquer the world", the CGI on his whole body was poor and no stand-out moments from him. The pacing was off throughout the whole movie and it was very noticeable which scenes were made by Snyder and which were added by Whedon, and the two's directing styles just don't mix well.

Overall, Justice League was a fine movie. Worth the money to go see it in theaters, but nothing too memorable. Just a fun movie to sit back and watch, but no complex or deep overall themes. A good step above what the DCEU has been doing recently, and hopefully it continues to get better in the future.
