What should be a more brutal, gritty and grown up version of avengers turns out to be a complete mess with no plot direction, no character development and with its back against the wall, tries it's hardest to imitate the Marvel Cinematic Universe's wit and humour as a get out of jail card. As it is the first time we meet Aquaman, Flash and Cyborg on the big screen, you would expect some in depth back story. This is rushed over incredibly quickly. Cyborg can't control his power in the once scene, but 5 minutes later is able to hack into Batman's new machine with guns on it and take control. As for aquaman, references are made that only those who have read every comic ever would get.

But all this could be forgiven if the villain is as good as Lex Luther in BvS, but once again a lack of character development means that Steppenwolf's evil plans are never laid out, we never see an impact of what he is trying to do which makes him the most underwhelming villain ever. Even the two blokes from Home Alone had more of a plan than this guy.

The only saving grace to this incredibly long, drawn out dross is one kick ass Wonder Woman scene early one which gives you a false hope that this film will be on par with Diana Prince's brilliant solo outing.
