Review of Justice League (2017) by Emanuel%20 C — 28 Nov 2017
While a step up from its BvS predecessor, Snyder's Justice League is still too far down on the staircase away from the top. A few things do work with the film, but more things work against it overall. The characters are a lot of fun, and is nice to see this group working together for the first time on the big screen. Gadot's wonder woman is amazing still, as she was in her standalone Wonder Woman film, Momoa's Aquaman is so much fun compared to some of the other characters, and Fisher's Cyborg is another great character, being dark yet being a fun time for the film during his action sequences. Unfortunately, that's all this film really has to offer. Miller's Flash doesn't blend well with the other characters, him being on one side of the character tone spectrum and everyone else being on the other. He is funny, but offers no chemistry to anyone else. Affleck's Batman is, for lack of a better term, stale. His character, his attempted jokes, his overall personality, is all completely lame, and he felt entirely useless in this film other than being the one that forms the team. Cavill's Superman is still too dark to fit the Superman/boy scout persona, but isn't a terrible addition to the film, just somewhat unnecessary until the very end. The villain is awful. Unthreathening, boring, and plotless, making him one of the worst parts of the entire film. The overall plot, not wanting to compare it to Marvel's Avengers films, is exactly that, except with a lot less heart and messy editing and CGI. Overall, it is a boring action film with fun characters, but that barely presses Justice League to be good. Honestly, it's okay at best, but I would not press it any further than that. Even my overall love towards DC comics cannot save Justice League from my opinion of it being another DCEU flop. Not disaster, but flop.
4/10.
