'Justice League' is a change of pace for the live-action DC universe, both in terms of tone and runtime. How one will feel about these changes will depend on their opinion of its predecessors. This film is much lighter than most of the previous entries, thanks to a comic relief in The Flash and a team-badass in Aquaman.

The humor works well for this particular story, with the team thankfully displaying a lot of charisma and camaraderie amongst each other. All three of the newcomers get just enough time to shine, and should leave viewers interested in their future solo stories.

Superman also makes a splendid return, and delivers some of his greatest moments of this franchise yet. These positive aspects of the film save it from its lesser ones. The CGI antagonist is fairly dull, and as generic as the overall plot.

When it comes to the visual effects, the ones on display in this film, while never awful, seem inexplicably mediocre and pale in comparison to those in other recent blockbusters. While this iconic team of heroes could have had an introduction of much more epic proportions, their first movie is still a fun one that shows potential for much greatness to come.
