Review of Justice League (2017) by Adw55125 — 17 Nov 2017
There is so much riding on this film, let's get that clear. It is not a perfect film, lets also get that clear. Depending on who you are, it has been a bumpy ride for the DCEU. It has not had the critical and audience reactions that Marvel has achieved. But I am here to tell you....that things may have changed. Here is what I have thought of the DCEU prior: Man of Steel (7/10), Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (8/10), Suicide Squad (3/10), Wonder Woman (8/10). Now what is my opinion of Justice League? It's fantastic.
Negatives:
-The CGI in certain scenes were pretty poor... make no mistake, not all of it, but some of it.
-Steppenwolf: Now to be clear, he was not 'bad' per say, but a little weak. Could have used more motivation. Though villains seem to be a problem in every Marvel or DC entry in their respective film franchises.
-The pacing in the beginning of the movie is really quick and choppy (much like Rogue One) but the film finds its groove about 20 minutes or so in.
Now....
The Good.
The Cast.
-Ben Affleck: I think Affleck is the greatest incarnation of Batman ever put to the screen. He nailed it in 'BvS' but man, he is even better here. -Gal Gadot: Charismatic, charming, beautiful, and has great chemistry with the League. Huge respect for Linda Carter, but like Affleck being my Batman, Gal is my Wonder Woman.
-Ezra Miller: Hilarious, ads so much fun to the movie. Ray Fisher: I really enjoyed Cyborg, for a character I didn't overly care for prior to the film, he completely invested me, and I wish there was more of him.
-Jason Mamoa: Badass, funny, entertaining. Who ever thought they'd be saying Aquaman is badass? Well we all will now.
Last but not least.....I really don't consider this a spoiler, but I will check the box anyway.
-Henry Cavill: He was great, and This was the best I have seen him, and I love Christopher Reeves, but Henry sold me as the best Superman in this film. He had so much heart, he smiled, and it felt so good to see him with the League at the end. Whedon/ Snyder.
They put together one hell of a movie. Zack, I love what you have done with this universe and I wish you the best and hope you and your family are doing better. I thank you for this movie. It is beautiful. You did very well Sir.
Whedon I also appreciated what you have done, specifically in the dialogue. All in all, don't listen to the critics. Experience it for yourself. I am not saying the critics are wrong and their opinions do not count, but don't take it for fact. Go see for yourself, I think people will be surprised, and overall pleased.
