Review of Justice League (2017) by Damien F — 19 Nov 2017
WARNING...SPOILERS AHEAD!
What If Zack Snyder didn't leave the project in May?...What if Joss Whedon was not brought in to take over post production and do extensive reshoots?...What if Danny Elfman wasn't brought in to replace Junkie XL?...and What if Warner Bros didn't send out a mandate to have Justice League cut down from 170 minutes to 120 minutes?
It is as if since every film buff has been informed of all this, there has been a determination of seeking out all the flaws and ignoring the many positives this movie has to offer.
I must admit, this superhero group flick is not perfect. There are a tonne of questions! However, the positives definitely overshadow the minor negatives.
All characters were entertaining, the Chemistry between the characters were briliant, the pacing was definitely improved since BvS and the story was satisfactory enough to set up amazing fight and action sequences.
However, even though I am a massive fan of Zack Snyder's camera work, visuals and use of CGI....At least 20% of the CGI did look suspect! CGI Steppenwolf held back Cirian Hinds' acting ability. There was no feel of the JL being heroes and saving millions of civilians as it focused of 1 family throughout the movie and we did not see Willem Defoe as Vulko which was a little disappointing. Which brings me to the runtime of the movie...I seriously wished another 20 mins was added on to answer the burning question of them all.......What happened to the Green Lanterns in charge of protecting Earth???
The Green Lanterns question does bug me but like I said before; the positives nicely overshadow the negatives. S far this is the best movie in the DC films universe after Wonder Woman and MoS. It is highly entertaining and the character back stories were nicely and swiftly introduced. For what it's worth...this theatrical cut can get away with it for now and you will have tonnes of fun seeing these legendary characters being brought to life. Enjoy!
