Review of Justice League (2017) by Hank T — 21 Nov 2017
DC is working hard to keep up with Marvel. It's power cubes instead of infinity stones. It's flying aliens coming through a portal ala Avengers. Josh Whedon, writer/director of Avengers, even wrote the screenplay.
The ensemble is interesting and brings some interesting superhero powers. Jason Mamoa's Aquaman brings personality and attitude but his powers aren't well understood. Flash is funny, but seems out of place and lacks confidence.
Once again, similar to Spider-Man's insertion into Captain America: Civil War. Wonder Woman, Batman, and Cyborg are strong and fun to watch. And lastly, the CGI'd Steppenwolf villain was awful, it didn't look believable.
The action sequences are well done, but the story is lacking something. The ending was a bit anti-climactic because of a non-compelling villain and rushed final battle scene. But Superman saves the day and is the emotional core of the movie.
DC has got a lot of work to do to catch up with Marvel, but overall, Justice League was still a fun ride.
