Review of Just Wright (2010) by Caiti S — 19 Oct 2010
Just Wright was that, just right! A perfect rom com and a guilty pleasure for a rainy day movie fest. I loved the story of Queen Latifah bringing Common back to his basketball glory. The story had so many "awe-enducing" moments whether it was the piano scene or the mustang makeover.
Queen Latifah knows how to play rom com characters amazingly! She nevers fails to impress in this genre. Common was a good actor, maybe this role didn't totally suit him and he has to work a bit better on staying in character (Chris pointed out that a lot of the time, he was walking perfectly on his bum knee).
Paula Patton was that character you just love to hate, but she really redeemed herself in the end. I have to say I hated the chemistry between Common and Queen Latifah the whole way through. I didn't think they look cute together at all.
I think the two actors seemed to different for me. I even said that I loved the chemistry Queen Latifah had with LL Cool J in "Last Holiday" (another great rom com guilty pleasure) much more than her chemistry with Common.
And with rom com's, the story, although pleasing, was sooooo predictable! Just Wright may not be an Oscar contender, but if you have a sick day, or a rainy day, pick up this cute movie along with "Last Holiday!".
