Review of Just My Luck (2006) by Jonathan O — 27 Jan 2009
Amiable rom-com with a good premise marred by outbreaks of McFly... Kind of hard to figure out who the film is pitched at, the comedy being too childish for teenagers (mostly consisting of slapstick and scatlogical humour) and the kids will be more interested in the band than in the romance. It's a decent premise for a film, but ends up being kind of like McDonalds - it does the job, but you know there are much more satisfying things out there...
(for specifics, Intacto does a much more interesting story with luck as a transferable commodity (though almost certainly done with a different target audience in mind) and 10 Things I hate About You is a much smarter teen comedy).
