Review of Just Go with It (2011) by Roxanne R — 04 Jan 2012
Let me start off by saying I am not fond of Adam Sandler nor Jennifer Aniston- they are average actors that make million of dollars in Hollywood so lucky them but neither is Oscar material and never will.
Second, its annoying and frustrating to see the Hollywood double-standard: in other words Sandler during most of the fillm kept casual attire, little make-up, just himself and memorized the script lines.
Aniston has to wear a few pounds of make-up, revealing outfits, heels, throughout the movie. I really hate that double standard! Unfair. As for the plot of Just Go With it, well a plastic surgeon (Sandler) who is single, lies to every woman he is attracted to by disclosing that he is married but his wife treats him badly.
He wears that wedding band that magically seems to attract women for a fling, hook-up, one night stand until one day at a house party he meets a younger woman (Palmer) that he seems to care for and he neglected to wear the ring that day.
They have sex but later on she is horrified to find the band in his pants pocket. He decides to lie by saying he is divorcing his wife. He picks his office assistant (Jennifer Aniston) to play the role of his ex-wife and things roll downhill from there.
I admit Aniston comes across as very charming, sweet and frankly I thought Aniston would make a better wife for him but men are blinded by younger women and Palmer was in her early 20's whereas Aniston was in her early 40's.
.Overall good comedy, good lines and lovely Hawaii shots. BUT out of the few Sandler films I have seen, my favorite continues to be 50 First Dates with Drew Barrymore. Anyways, glad to have seen Redbox's most rented film of 2011 and recommended.
