Review of Just Go with It (2011) by The D — 21 Jul 2013
Just Go With It is a comedy starring Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston and directed by frequent Adam Sandler collaborator Denis Dugan. This film is a lot better than most of the latest Sandler productions (That's My Boy, Jack & Jill, Grown Ups, You Don't Mess With the Zohan) however, that's not enough to recommend this film.
The strong suits of this film is that it does wring out a couple laughs thanks to the comedic timing and solid performance by Jennifer Aniston. Also, I sorta dig the ending even though it is a little overly sentimental. The ending really made me feel for Aniston's character and she is the only likeable character in the while movie.
Unfortunately, this comedy doesn't produce enough laughs to justify it's length and it isn't witty at all. There are a few jokes that hit that are scattered around this movie but overall most of the jokes seem either forced or annoying.
Speaking of annoying, Nick Swardson is in this film and he is one of my least favourite comedic actors of all time. He plays a German sheep-trader for some reason and is one of the most annoying characters in recent memory and serves no purpose in the story. Adam Sandler's character is typically obnoxious, loud-mouthed, unlikable and annoying, just like in every Adam Sandler movie.
Other than a few bright spots where there's laughs and a solid performance from Aniston, there isn't too much to recommend from this film.
Overall, I give this film (4/10).
