Review of Just Friends (2012) by Kj P — 13 Jan 2010
Two best friends in high school reunite and fall in love after the homely one loses weight and becomes a big-shot talent agent, and the pretty one stays home and stagnates as a barmaid. Cliches are abound in this film, for what is notoriously my least favorite genre in all of cinema.
However, "Just Friends" has a few things going for it. Surprisingly enough, Ryan Reynolds is engaging as the lead to have you relate to him in some way or another. I admittedly laughed a few times thanks to the film's decently paced script, and the acting is rather bearable.
Just don't go in expecting brilliance and you should be just fine.
