Review of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018) by Kameron P — 23 Jun 2018
This contains spoilers so stop now if you haven't seen the movie. I have been a fan since I picked up Michael Chrichton's book at an airport book store. It had an "about to be a major motion picture" sticker on the cover and I was hooked. The original was amazing and it's sequels were so-so, but I was really hoping the re-make and it's sequels would be amazing as well. A friend saw the movie in Asia two weeks before it was released in the US and he had horrible things to say about it. I was ok with it until the end and then I thought it was one of those "Um...I'm out of ideas" endings. Jeff Goldblum's character, Dr. Malcom, was only in a court room spouting "the future is doomed" lines and the whole idea was to make you think that now dinosaurs would again rule the world and humanity is over.
Well...yeah...um...
Cut to the end scenes of the movie:
Movie Scene: T-Rex invades zoo, roars at a lion.
What would Really Happen: T-Rex invades zoo, roars at a lion then SWAT shows up and shreds the T-Rex.
Movie Scene: Blue looks down on a valley of suburban homes...
What would really happen: Blue enters neighborhood, eats a few people, army shows up and blowers her to pieces..
So the whole movie builds up to this "if dinos get out we are doomed" mantra, but only 11 species and less than 100 animals were actually taken from the island. It won't take long for all those dinos to be slaughtered by weekend hunters, military forces, SWAT teams, etc.
And that is why the ending is so stupid.
