Review of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018) by Yash B — 24 Jun 2018
"Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" isn't without a few entertaining sequences, but it is tragically driven by a very weak story. I thought the premise was absolutely ludicrous and I didn't buy the events of the story for a second.
However, I know it is a blockbuster, so I tried to cut it some slack and just tried to have fun. With this mentality, I found some enjoyment in the first and last act since there are some fast paced action and great visual effects.
I thought Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Pratt did decent jobs returning in their roles from the first, but I didn't really like any of the new characters. At times they felt over the top and even annoyed me.
Jeff Goldblum hardly has even one scene in this movie and I felt he was included just so the movie could use him in trailers and marketing, which was pretty frustrating and disappointing. All in all, if you can get past a ridiculous plot and a very slow middle portion, you can find some enjoyment with the more intense and visually moments in the movie.
Nonetheless, as much as I hate to say it, this is one of the weakest movies the franchise has seen yet, and for me is the most crushing disappointment of summer 2018 so far. I truly hope they can turn things around with the next part.
