Review of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018) by Alex T — 28 Jun 2018

I came into this second installment of the Jurassic World series wanting to love it. While there are some parts that were done well, the entire movie seemed a bit underwhelming. The plot seemed a bit flat and somewhat predictable. It honestly felt like some parts of the story were just phoned in with little creativity.

That being said, I always enjoy seeing Chris Pratt in any movie. His style has always struck a chord with me and he adds a certain element to any film he's in. It's no different in Fallen Kingdom. He takes a weaker plot and script and salvages it into something halfway decent. That should show just how good of a talent Pratt is.

Just like the first Jurassic World, the special effects are pretty fun in this movie too. Having different variations of dinosaurs running a muck inside an old mansion seems like it was a challenging feat in the area of special effects. The special effects crew nailed it though and provided many exciting and intense scenes with the most realistic CGI figures yet.

Overall, I'd recommend seeing the movie. You know you're not coming for breathtaking plot, but honestly in the end, it doesn't really matter. The actors and fantastic CGI scenes help carry the movie for the most part. I am curious to see where the series goes to with the third movie. It at least has me intrigued.
