Review of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018) by Jonathan B — 18 Jun 2018
I was left decidedly unimpressed by this latest Jurassic Park movie. The plot started well, with the genetically engineered dinosaurs themselves facing peril as a volcano threatened to destroy their island home.
Had the movie stayed with that theme, I feel it could have been a far more interesting and enjoyable viewing. Instead, we get something of a rehash of the done to death plot lines from previous films.
There's the mercenary, the evil scientist, the benevolent millionaire and the crooked businessman. It all unfolds in a predictable manner and lacked anything particularly new. I can still remember the thrill of the first movie when the special effect dinosaurs seemed so vibrant, new and groundbreaking.
Sadly, here they seem old-hat and contrived, merely serving to deprive me of the price of a cinema ticket.
