Review of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018) by Nicholas N — 13 Dec 2018
This was alright. It had some great action and the video of Owen with his Raptors was cute (especially with Blue's reaction to Owen showing vulnerability). But the whole story just felt lacking. Why couldn't the dinosaurs being taken to Site B? If the island being destroyed is cause the dinosaurs' re-extinction, what happened to the Dinos on Site B? I'm not gonna accept excuses like, the people behind the film simply saying that they all died. That's just lazy writing. It's like they're trying to pretend that the Lost World didn't exist to justify the plot here. The ending made it sound like a lot more dinosaurs were released into the mainland than there actually were. I'm pretty sure there's less than a hundred dinosaurs that were taken to the Lockwood estate.
The whole relationship between Owen and Claire felt repetitive with them having broken up again after the first Jurassic World. What was the point of it?
The Indoraptor wasn't as terrifying or seem as deadly as the Indominus Rex was. It showed some high intelligence when it played dead, but other than that, it just didn't feel like as a big of a threat as it could have been if it was in a pack.
I wish they would have brought back the Dilophosaurus. Like the T-Rex and Raptor, the Dilophosaurus was another well known Dino from the Jurassic Park franchise. And it's a shame that we haven't seen one since the first film.
While this film isn't as good as JP,JPLW, or JW, it's still better than Jurassic Park 3, that's for sure.
