Historically speaking Jurassic Park 2 is probably my least favorite Jurassic Park movie. I know not all agree with me on that but I do a lot of people share this outlook on the movie franchises.

Now in short terms Jurassic World basically took the movie a lot of people didn't like, and re-did the entire movie with a 2018 spin on it. I didn't like the performances between the two leads. They pulled the most used cliche of, "First movie romance that brings two people together somehow fallsout without us knowing and then re-does the first movies falling in love again segment" Thats a bit of a mouth full but is seen in so many movies and shows these days. Its the most used romance cliche I've seen and I hate how they brought it to this movie. The performances for Owen and Claire were either poorly written or poorly acted. It was cliche and un-original in so many ways but also original and fun in its own right. It's a confusing mess of emotions.

Lets start with the positive, the movie had great effects and visuals. I liked the darker under-tone and the realism of what a psycho-dino would do after getting some heavily boosted killer-instinct written in their DNA. (Spoilers) I loved the twist with the little girl being a clone and I loved some of the attempts at originality the movie took.

The main beef I have with this movie is the obvious political undertone, way to hand-over fist that shit right into my mind. There's beauty in subtlety and force feeding your more political leaning agenda is not what I'm looking for. Remember how Tom Hanks says killing Hooch was the biggest mistake he made on an otherwise great movie? Well thanks Jurassic park for doing that with all the dinosaurs we love.

Lets get back on-track here. The points in these movies that I enjoy are the moments of originality but they're so few and far inbetween. The movie dips its toe into the dangerous waters of diverting from the originals but quickly gets cold-feet and returns to the same plot of the Original movie. The first movie had a good kick off of something great while also touching on our nostalgia bug but if all we're getting is re-visualized remakes of the first 3 movies than please go home, you're drunk movie.

Take your originality and run with it. This movie was pure setup for additional movies and had little to nothing to add to what we didn't know already. I already knew that Blue and Owen had a tight relationship, I already knew they were planning on making the Hybrid death-machine Raptor from the first movie, and I already saw the plot of Jurassic park 2 so I already knew where that ship was sailing the moment I saw it in the docks. Nothing new was add, I came out of that movie with seeing a cool monster eat a few people and thats about it. Also, nice job re-using the deus-Ex-Machina moments from the first movie with Blue and then amplifying it up by double, like I didn't already see Blue saving the day miraculously.

This movie could of gone in so many directions but fails to commit to anything and instead pumps out a re-make of the original for a giant shiny penny. You better use that 1.3 billion in gross gain to make something worth-while next time. Don't become the next Transformers, please!
