Review of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018) by Jim P — 30 Jun 2018
Good not great, but I don't understand all the upROAR about it being terrible. The director, J.A. Bayona, is in love with feet. Not counting all the shots starting with dinosaurs, I counted 5 instances where a scene started with a human's feet and then the camera wither panned up or out. It was cool maybe the first two times but became very predictable and bland in the end.
However I do have to say Jurassic Fallen Kingdom was much more tense and scary than I anticipated. I think Jurassic succeeded in this field more so than recent horror films like A Quiet Place.
The story was entertaining and the issue was clear, but I thought the film tried to tackle too many problems. What I thought was the biggest wow moment was cast aside and ignored for the rest of the movie. Sure movies can't go on for 10 hours, but I thought this big subplot could have been explored more or just cut put all together to be addressed in the already scheduled third movie.
