Review of Jurassic World (2015) by Evan C — 27 Jul 2016
The original Jurassic Park novel written by Michael Crichton is a captivating look on the science of evolution and reproduction as well as an intense thriller. The Spielberg film Jurassic Park is an intense thriller that brought dinosaurs to life through state of the art CGI.
The next two films attempted to capture the same magic as the first but failed in doing so (and the reviews reflected that). Then came Jurassic World. Jurassic World is essentially Transformers with Dinosaurs! The Jurassic Park series started with a classic novel that intertwined complex "science" with a harrowing plot.
That is why this film is so disappointing. How do you take source material so inventive and captivating and turn it into a Michael Bay film? And furthermore, why are critics and audiences okay with this? Anyone granting this film a positive review is admitting to being a small-minded, apathetic hack who thinks CGI dinosaurs are any different from CGI robots.
