Review of Jurassic World (2015) by Frederic C. B — 26 Apr 2016
The Good:
The nostalgia boost as well as the nods to the original trilogy are well appreciated. Some fantastic scares, great actions when involving the Dinosaurs, and wonderful moments, in particular Owen's relationship with Blue. Wonderful choices of Dino species, although it could have been more varied. Making the T-Rex as well as the Raptors as 'protagonist' is a wise and praiseable decision, even if it falls out of logic.
The Not-so-Good:
The first 30 minutes is filled with too much exposition that drags down the movie a bit. Some of the logics don't really play well, considering many things would have acted differently if occurs in real life. Poorly written and also uninspiring characters, because it's very obvious most if not all of the casualties are caused due to their own fault (or plain stupidity). For an amusement park that's supposed to have run for quite some time, it is blatantly poor in security. The romance between Owen and Claire feels forced and out of place. Not just that, the presence of Zach and Gray is also pretty useless because they are only there to drive the plot. Too obvious that they are trying to trigger a sequel with the way some parts are left in the ending.
