Review of Jurassic World (2015) by Tom S — 01 Sep 2016
A maniac pterodactyl sequence makes it tolerable, as well as flushes of satire-the sight of Starbucks and Ben & Jerry's at a dinosaur park is curiously satisfying, plus the crowds cheering on the T-Rex devouring a lamb.
The military subplot ("Just imagine them in Torabora") also ends up paying off, if only for recognizing its own ridiculousness. You can hear the writers moaning as they're forced to dilute good material with the usual tropes: a hot armed white dude, a woman reduced to a tanktop, and T-Raptors battling to the death.
