Review of Jurassic Park (1993) by Haris P — 22 May 2015
Jurassic Park. A title that nearly everyone has heard about. They might not have watched it, they might not remember a thing about if and when they watched it. They might hate it, they might love it. But one thing is: no one can ignore it. Jurassic Park, based on the book by Michael Crichton, is simply one of the greatest films of all time. The film, a little over 21 years old at the.
Time this review has been published, is not only one of Steven Speilberg's greatest works, but is also his highest grossing film. The plot seems pretty simple: a group of geneticists extract dinosaur DNA from mosquitos and create dinosaur clones. John Hammond, a billionaire entrepreneur, then creates an amusement park which allows tourists to see dinosaurs. Sounds like a great idea, right? Ian Malcom doesn't seem to think so. Malcom, along with palienotologist Dr. Alan Grant, and a few others, go to the park to get a preview of it. A lawyer accompanies them; if he deems the park dangerous, he's shutting it down. So it all goes well until Dennis Nedry, one of the park's staff, shuts down all security measures in the park, letting the dinos go loose. This serves as a distraction for him, so he can get dino embryos and sell them for over a million dollars. His plan foils; and the park is destroyed by the havoc causing dinos, who also claimed a few lives along the way.
The movie is simply brilliant. While some may focus on hidden agendas, other simply enjoy the thriller-with-horror-elements and the dinos running amok as the tiny humans try to escape. Whatever your case may be, we can all agree that combined with the fantastic score, amazing acting and great script, as well as the breathtaking CGI and it's brilliant merging with animatronics, that the entire movie is utterly jaw dropping--a classic that we all know and love. From the scary T-Rex roaring in the warm summer night's pouring rain, to the highly intelligent velociraptors hunting down every last human, this movie is definitely a great treat for dino experts, horror cravers, thrill seekers, and even casual movie watchers.
