Review of Jurassic Park (1993) by Chuck W — 01 Feb 2016
A watershed picture, the first to rely on computer animation for the majority of its visual effects, and unlike the filmmakers who numbed us to this technology in the years to follow Spielberg had the restraint to make it effective.
Not particularly faithful to the plot of the ingenious source novel, but since its author (Michael Chrichton) worked on the screenplay it's at least faithful in tone. Kudos to Attenborough for coming out of acting retirement to add gravitas to the deluded millionaire behind the park, but it's Jeff Goldblum as the skeptical "chaotician" who steals the show.
John Williams provides a rousing theme which for once doesn't sound like all his others.
