Jupiter Ascending is one of those films where you see a lot of potential onscreen for a modern day space opera. Problem is that there is simply too much going on in this movie to make it the story coherent.

It seems the Wachowskis focused more on the details of how their new cinematic world runs rather than focusing on the elements that matter and that is giving us developed and fleshed out characters. There is too much flat expository dialogue.

Tatum and Kunis are boring and have zero romantic chemistry. Eddie Redmayne delivers one of the most hammy villain performances since Jeremy Irons in Dungeons and Dragons. It is hysterical. This is probably the last big-budget epic we will get from the Wachowskis.

Damn shame. There's a decent Sci-Fi film in here somewhere.
