Review of Jupiter Ascending (2015) by Dokalu — 20 Feb 2015
The first thing you see in this movie is an awesome opening scene, cool special effects, nice and fast action, and intriguing characters, so you think “wow, this film is going to be awesome!”, and then it moves forward and you realize how wrong you were before. Jupiter Ascending is just a long run time full of extremely long and boring conversations that no one cares about. There are barely some action scenes. It has some cool stuff, the “flying” shoes, beautiful protagonist, some excellent CGI (for the most part) and good acting (mainly by Eddie Redmayne), but it is almost entirely just long and boring. The movie’s protagonist is yet another female character who can’t do the things by herself and need always a male character by her side (in this case, Chaning Tatum).
What I didn’t like about the film most that anything else was the fact that you could predict anything that was going to happen. Nothing was unexpected, it was full of clichés, and from the beginning you already knew how it was going to end. That is very disappointing from the people who created The Matrix.
I don’t know what on Earth possessed the Wachowskis to make this movie, but I think they should be preparing for retirement.
Real score: 4.
