Review of Jupiter Ascending (2015) by Richard S — 20 Mar 2016
I imagine this film looked awesome on the original storyboards, if the Wachowski's have one thing going for them it's the ability to create fantastic and original worlds that in theory would lend themselves well to film. It starts off well and I felt some nostalgia while watching it because it had the feel of all of those Star Wars knock offs from the 80's which while being Star Wars knock offs were still entertaining.
The film starts to fall down when we go off world and none more so when Eddie Redmayne is on screen which I found difficult to believe because for a guy who lit up the screen in The Theory of Everything, he is nothing more than an over the top pantomime villain in this film. The action sequences are inventive and entertaining but even these can't save Eddie and friends.
