Hey, look what was on TV today! I was gunna turn this off after about a half hour, but then the adoptive parents come into the picture and things get a lot more interesting. The first time I saw this movie, seven years ago, I loved it because of the on-screen chemistry of Paige and Cera, who sparkle in this.

I also loved the "totez adorbz" style of dialogue and the undeniably cute soundtrack. This time around, I couldn't help but notice what an asshole the adoptive dad was, played by Jason Bateman.

He and Paige basically start a little romance, which I probably thought was just quirky and weird when I saw it the first time around but now that I'm older I can't help but freak out over it.

Paige's character is 16 and a junior in high school, Bateman, a married thirtysomething, essentially seduces her with a mixtape and invitations to his house while his wife's at work. "Hey!" Paige says when she comes over, "Is Vanessa home?" "No.

We're safe," says Bateman with a wink. Cringe! Anyway, I think this movie has a lot to offer and I think it's held up well over the years. I remember how much I loved it in 2007 and I have to say I still love it in 2014!
